San Vincenzo is one of the best-equipped resorts of the Costa degli Etruschi, offering the greatest range of hotels and accommodation in the whole of the Val di Cornia.
Its mild climate, the characteristics of its natural environment as well as its centrality on the Tyrrhenian coast make San Vincenzo a place to spend your holidays all year round, not just during the summer. The coastal shoreline is composed of light very fine sand and extends for 12 km, fringed with the thick Mediterranean brush vegetation which stretches right down to the beach.
There are plenty of free and fully equipped beaches starting from the Municipality of Castagneto Carducci to the North and extending southwards right down to the Municipality of Piombino with the promontory of Baratti and Populonia. Most of the fully equipped beaches and bathing establishments are in the town centre, whereas the longest free beach (about 8 km.) is inside the park of Rimigliano,a Nature Reserve on the southern side of San Vincenzo’s territory, which forms part of the Val di Cornia Park System.
One of the features of the park is its marvellously unspoilt Mediterranean brush vegetation, traversed by waymarked trails stretching down to a beautiful broad shoreline in a wilderness setting.
The town centre has a pleasure boat mooring harbour which has recently been enlarged. It is a perfect stopping place for those who enjoy pleasure boating and have been exploring the Tuscan archipelago. As well as the seaside, San Vincenzo also offers nature trails both inside the park of Rimigliano and in the picturesque hill hamlet of San Carlo, which was once a mining village and today is highly appreciated for its setting in the scenic landscape of the Val di Cornia hills. Over the last decade the development of agritourisms in the countryside has expanded the range of choice for tourists, integrating the traditional seaside holiday with the chance for nature lovers to relax in the enchanting landscape and offering plenty of opportunity to sample the home-grown food and wine of the area . The presence of sports centres and the waymarked and maintained nature trails have in recent years enhanced the attraction of San Vincenzo for sports-related tourism, in particular cycling, and guests will find innumerable occasions for engaging in sports during their stay. San Vincenzo’s central position on the Mediterranean coast allows those who decide to spend their vacation here easy and rapid access to the other tourist attractions and destinations of the area, such as the Val di Cornia Park System, which includes the park of Rimigliano. Particularly fascinating, and of nationwide importance, is the historical testimony represented by the archaeological park of Baratti and the archaeological mining park of San Silvestro, as well as the spectacular promontory of Populonia, all of which constitute veritable points of excellence within the national framework.
San Vincenzo is also not far from the historic medieval hill towns of Suvereto, Campiglia Marittima, Bolgheri, Castagneto Carducci, as well as the beaches of the Nature Park of Sterpaia in the Municipality of Piombino and the health spa of Caldana in the Municipality of Campiglia Marittima.
San Vincenzo is also little more than an hour’s drive from Volterra, San Gimignano, Siena, Pisa and Florence; Pisa is only 70 km away and Florence, and Florence 150 km. The port of Piombino is the main gateway to the island of Elba and is just 22 km from San Vincenzo
